Leaders in the Australian gift and homewares industry, Swing Gifts has been supplying stylish, affordable and innovative products for nearly 50 years.

Founded in 1975 in a renovated Victorian Terrace in South Yarra by Marie Irving and her friend and then business partner Jenny Swann, they christened the business by taking the ‘Sw’ from Swann and the ‘ing’ from Irving, to become Swing Gifts.

Initially Marie and Jenny were looking for a hobby and contemplated opening a Games Shop. Once they began to source their products, word began to spread about their handmade products from exotic locations. Interest and demand began to grow, with the likes of the department store Georges, Myer and Interior Decorating shops across Melbourne wanting to stock their products.

In 1976, the duo exhibited for the first time at the Melbourne August Reed Gift Fair, which was held at the Hilton Hotel in East Melbourne. Their feminine eye for product selection, quickly gathered interest in an industry which until that point had been somewhat of a man’s domain.

Marie’s son, Andrew joined his mother in 1993 after spending several years in the corporate banking industry. His experience helped guide the business on a fresh path, with a more homewares focus.  

In 1999, the business out grew its South Yarra address and moved Bayside into a larger premises. This move preceded the rebranding of Swing’s Christmas decorator and tabletop offering to Pure Christmas and launching of today’s hugely popular Pure Homewares brand.

‘Affordable Style’ is Pure Homeware’s motto, guaranteeing a wide selection of beautifully presented, relevant home decorating products, that reflect a variety of tastes and demands, at the right price each season.    

Swing’s ongoing success is attributed to it’s ‘customer focus’ ethos. The team strive to deliver the ‘right’ products and the ‘right’ price in a timely manner. 

A pillar in the gift and homewares industry, and still being family owned, Swing Gifts prides itself on offering retailers access to over 3000 product lines across five showrooms nationally and backed up by a rock solid sales force and state of the art distribution facility.
